Although The Ickabog will be published online for free, there will also be an officially published book version. Children will have the opportunity to have their illustrations inspired by the story featured in the official publishing when it releases in their respective territory.

Parent’s can share their children’s drawings on Twitter using the hashtag #theickabog J.K. Rowling will be responding to some of the drawings herself.

J.K. Rowling will also be donating all royalties from The Ickabog‘s publishing to various organizations that are helping those impacted by COVID-19.

In the above Twitter thread, Rowling reveals she wrote The Ickabog “over 10 years ago”. She goes on to say that she always meant to publish it but decided to release two adult novels after Harry Potter.

Until recently, only Rowling’s two children had heard of The Ickabog, but now the world will get to experience the series free-of-charge online.

The chapters will be published on a cycle, every weekday at 3:00pm starting today.
