<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the best books I enjoyed last year was <em><strong>Six of Crows</strong></em> by Leigh Bardugo, so much so that <a href="https://www.redital.com/2018/what-i-love-about-six-of-crows/">I even wrote an article singing its praises</a>. What made me love Bardugo’s style is how she crafted her characters. Everything about her characters was perfectly defined, from their flaws to their physical shortcomings. And by now, everyone knows that great characters is a much needed formula for a good Netflix series.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Thankfully, we’ve all had the pleasure of waking up to the news that Leigh Bardugo’s hit debut novel<em> Shadow and Bon</em>e and the spin-off <em>Six of Crows</em> will be adapted as Netflix originals.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I’ve yet to read <em>Shadow of Bone</em> and I will make it a priority now, but <em>Six of Crows</em> was truly an incredible fantasy story that I think will make great viewing. It’s a naturally diverse book that doesn’t feel forced or like it’s pandering to audiences.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="538" src="https://redital-com.stackstaging.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/six-of-crows-french-cover-detail-1024x538.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-580" srcset="https://redital.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/six-of-crows-french-cover-detail-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https://redital.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/six-of-crows-french-cover-detail-300x158.jpg 300w, https://redital.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/six-of-crows-french-cover-detail-768x403.jpg 768w, https://redital.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/six-of-crows-french-cover-detail-480x252.jpg 480w, https://redital.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/six-of-crows-french-cover-detail.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Six of Crows is coming to Netflix!</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It will also be great to see how the showrunners bring to life Kaz Brekker’s osteonecrosis condition that Leigh Bardugo herself suffers with. As someone with a disorder, I like to see us sick or handicapped folk represented in fiction.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With a Netflix adaptation of <em>The Witcher</em> already in the works, and the success of Lifetime and Netflix’s collaboration on <em>You</em>, it’s clear that Netflix is giving successful authors a shot at bringing their stories to life in new ways. It makes me wonder what other series’ we’ll see come to the platform in the future.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the meantime, let’s all <a href="https://www.leighbardugo.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">familiarize ourselves with the Grishaverse</a> before the show’s hit he platform.</p>
