We just recorded our first Reader’s Rundown, and the book we decided to cover was (you guessed it!) Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.
About Ready Player One
Ready Player One follows the teenage life of Wade Watts, a student inside the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Its 2044 and reality is an ugly place, so most of the population spend their time inside of the Oasis, an online virtual world that serves on-demand entertainment of any kind.
Upon his death, the creator of the OASIS launched a contest to look for a hidden Easter Egg within the OASIS. This was his legacy, and per his will the winner would receive his vast, real-life fortune and control over the OASIS. In essence, this would make the winner into one of the most powerful people in the world. This leads Wade Watts and his virtual friends on a quest to both find the Easter Egg and thwart the efforts of the controlling organization trying to find the Easter Egg for their own agenda.
About Reader’s Rundown
Reader’s Rundown is a video discussion show in which we speak about the ins-and-outs of a specific title. Typically our Reader’s Rundowns are spoiler free, but occasionally we’ll run a special spoiler Reader’s Rundown for books we feel need to be discussed in depth. At the time of this writing, Reader’s Rundown is recorded with just one person speaking, but we aim to bring in other readers to create a discussion filled show.
